Great Wedding Gift Ideas

Written by Andrea. Published on Nov 24th 2009.

So you have been invited to a wedding and the couple either doesn't have a gift list registered anywhere or you are too late and everything is gone, what do you get the modern couple who have been living together for years?

There are a number of traditional things that a couple can never have too many of such as towels but if you want to be a little different then here are my top ten suggestions. I've put links down the left side of the page to each item so you can buy it.

10. Foreign Currency For Their Chosen Honeymoon Destination

This way you are contributing to their honeymoon and might go towards their first meal out as a married couple. Why not tuck this money into a guidebook of the area or if you have been to their destination why not recommend a few places to visit inside the book.

9. Personalised Champagne Flutes and a Bottle of Champagne

Perhaps once the wedding is over they can use these to celebrate their one month anniversary.

8. Wedding Canvas Voucher

After the wedding they will probably get an album from their photographer but you could give them a voucher to have their favourite wedding photo blown up and printed onto canvas for them to hang somewhere special in their house.

7. Some Luxury Bed Linen

This sounds like something that should be on their gift list however everyone loves high thread count, crisp new bed sheets to come home to after being on holiday. You could write on the card that you hope all their dreams come true or something a little saucier if you know them well enough ;)

6. A Tefal Toast 'n' Egg Maker

Ok so this is something that would probably be on their gift list but just in case it isn't I think this would be the perfect gift. Long gone are the days of the boring old toaster, here they can have delicious toast and poached egg in less than 4 minutes. Who wouldn't love that!

5. Digital Photo Frame

A silver wedding photo frame is so old fashioned, why not bring it up to date with one of these. It's a great place for the bride and groom to show off all their photos after their big day. The one we feature here even has three different coloured frames to suit their decor.

4. A Breakfast in Bed Hamper

This could include any little appliances they might need like a milk frother for their morning coffee. You could include a breakfasting tray, some Mr & Mrs mugs and maybe a 'just married' tea towel.

3. Membership to a Wine Club

Are the newlyweds keen wine drinkers? Then this could be the perfect gift that will keep giving in the years to come. You could have a case delivered when they return from honeymoon and even one for their first anniversary.

2. A Personalised Wedding Plate

The problem with a guestbook is that it rarely sees the light of day, so this is a modern alternative. This plate could be on display in their kitchen as a reminder of the lovely messages guests wrote on their special day.

1. A Scrapbook of their wedding

You could put together a scrapbook with photos from when they were a couple, engagement photos, an invitation to their wedding and any other things you can gather from their wedding such as menus, favours or a printed version of their vows. Make them something they can treasure forever.
